AUGUST 11, 2026 REGULAR MEETING MINUTES
A Regular Meeting of the Dundee Township Board was held Tuesday August 11, 2026. Clerk Ziesmer called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. All present recited The Pledge of Allegiance.
Present were Trustees: Ken Jaworski, Timothy Miles, Gary Lazette and Clerk Karla Ziesmer. Clerk Ziesmer did roll call. Treasurer Lisa Ost, Supervisor Ronald Charter and Trustee Alana Horkey were excused.
Clerk Ziesmer moved to appoint Trustee Lazette to chair the meeting in the absence of Supervisor Charter. Trustee Jaworski seconded. Motion carried.
- Clerk Ziesmer moved to revise the agenda by moving the Patriot’s Fire Service letter regarding the purchase of the fire truck to the last item under New Business. Trustee Jaworski seconded. Motion carried.
- Trustee Jaworski moved to approve the Regular Meeting Minutes held on of July 14, 2026, and waive the reading of such. Trustee Lazette seconded. Motion carried.
- Trustee Jaworski moved to approve the June 2026 Treasurer’s report. Trustee Miles seconded. Motion carried.
- Trustee Jaworski moved to waive the reading of the two items of Correspondence and place on file. Trustee Miles seconded. Motion carried.

PUBLIC COMMENT: Lauren Beaudry, candidate for Monroe County Circuit Court Judge, introduced herself to the Board and residents. She discussed her experience as an assistant prosecutor and her qualifications for the position. She stated her commitment to fairness, treating those appearing before the court with respect, and following the law.
OFFICIAL REPORTS
LIBRARY: Jennifer provided an update on summer programming at the Dundee Branch Library. Children’s activities included summer reading programs, Y on the Fly at Wolverine Park, Play-Doh and Playdates, sewing projects, splash days, gardening activities, and other programs. Adult and teen programming continues as well. Summer Reading will continue through August 29, 2026. The Friends of the Library Fall Book Sale will be held in conjunction with Pumpkin Palooza on October 2 and 3. Proceeds from the Friends of the Library help support library programs and prizes.

BUILDING DEPARTMENT: No report at this time.
FIRE DEPARTMENT: No report at this time.
TREASURER LISA OST: Excused
TRUSTEE GARY LAZETTE:
- The second cutting of ditch mowing was complete; however, Trustee Jaworski advised that the north side of Ida West Road had not been completed. Follow-up will be made with the Road Commission.
- The Citizen’s Ad Hoc Committee will hold a public workshop on August 12, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at Dundee Township Hall to gather public input regarding the development of the data center ordinance. The public may provide comments verbally or submit written comments.
- A Zoning Board of Appeals meeting is scheduled for August 17, and the Planning Commission regular meeting is scheduled for August 19.
CLERK KARLA ZIESMER: Election Day had a steady turnout throughout the day and ran smoothly with no issues. Early voting participation was low. A grant opportunity is available for reimbursement of certain early voting costs, and the Clerk will apply for reimbursement for Dundee Township’s election workers.
TRUSTEE TIM MILES: No report at this time.
TRUSTEE KEN JAWORSKI: Reported receiving concerns from a Township resident regarding cemetery conditions, including tipped or damaged monuments, Memorial Day flags, and overgrowth. It was noted that individual families are responsible for gravestones and that the VFW handles placement and removal of Memorial Day flags. Estimates are being sought for spraying and cleaning up overgrowth around the cemetery perimeter.

SUPERVISOR CHARTER: Excused
OLD BUSINESS: None at this time
NEW BUSINESS:
- Pierce Fire Truck Lease Purchase – PNC Bank
The Board discussed financing for the Pierce fire truck. It was noted that interest rates are subject to change and updated figures should be available closer to the next meeting. Trustee Jaworski moved to postpone action on the Pierce fire truck lease purchase until the August 25, 2026meeting, when Supervisor Charter and additional Board members are expected to be present and updated financing information will be available. Trustee Lazette seconded. Motion carried. - Reliant Fire Apparatus – Advance Payment
The Board discussed an advance payment option for the new fire apparatus that would provide a $115,000 discount. The purchase price after the advance payment discount was stated as $1,022,705, with the total amount to be financed, including a performance bond, stated as $1,025,493. Clerk Ziesmer moved to postpone action until the August 25, 2026 meeting. Trustee Miles seconded. Motion carried. - Patriot’s Fire Service – Purchase of 2006 Pierce Pumper Engine 7
The Board reviewed a letter from Patriot’s Fire Service offering to purchase the Township’s 2006 Pierce Pumper Engine 7, which has a blown engine, for $5,000.It was noted that serviceable parts had been removed from the truck for use on other Township fire apparatus. Clerk Ziesmer moved toaccept the $5,000 offer from Patriot’s Fire Service for the Pierce Pumper Engine 7 with the blown engine in its current condition.Trustee Jaworski seconded. Motion carried.
Additional board comments:
- Trustee Jaworski discussed the importance of the Township’s future fire and road millages and the impact the millages have on maintaining fire protection services and Township roads.
- Board members also expressed appreciation to the Township’s election workers and staff for their dedication and the long hours required to successfully conduct an election.
Trustee Miles moved to pay bills dated July 23, 2026, in the amount of $28,758.40. Trustee Jaworski seconded. Motion carried.
Clerk Ziesmer moved to pay bills dated August 8, 2026, in the amount of $92,195.93. Trustee Jaworski seconded. Motion carried.
Trustee Jaworski motioned to adjourn the meeting at 7:29 p.m. Clerk Ziesmer seconded. Motion carried.
The next Regular Township meeting will be August 25, 2026, at 7:00 P.M.
